Unlocking Molecular-Level Secrets

As part of a course modernization initiative, graduate students in this intensive 7-week analytical chemistry program were tasked with developing a custom application using MATLAB App Designer. The app was designed to baseline-correct fluctuating temporal pulse traces, isolate individual pulses, and extract key waveform metrics, including skewness, kurtosis, area, peak maximum, and width. Additionally, students were introduced to the MATLAB Classification Learner app. This project serves as a technical foundation, enabling them to transition into machine learning workflows and apply advanced data analysis to their own doctoral research.
